Shanghai

If you are going to China, for sure you will also visit Shanghai, city that is a must. Shanghai is the most international city of the country and, as that, you can literally find anything there, from Italian ice cream to Mexican food, of course the price is going to be pretty high for this products, but if you are in China from a while or you are just missing something about your own culture, that is the right place where to find it.

I personally don't like that much, I prefer hidden gems, but still I think it is worth a visit.

The city is simply enormous and the story behind it is amazing, it is impossible to describe it all in only one article, so I will talk about my experience in this huge metropolis.

First of all, one of the greatest things of Shanghai is that, being that big and important is well linked to other cities, for example, thanks to the fast train, you can reach it in just few hours from Hangzhou, and the ticket has a reasonable price.

Before going there it would be better to decide the places you want to visit and the things you would like to do, so make a plan before leaving, just to have your ideas clear, even if the things of the last moment are always the best ones!

Do not worry about the language, there they are used to the presence of foreigners and almost everyone can speak English.

As it is impossible to talk about all the things you can find or do in this city, here there are some tips based on my experience.

Pearl Tower, Shanghai Museum

The pearl Tower is in the Pudong district, in front of Shanghai’s Bund. The tower is 468 meters tall, being the third tallest building in Shanghai. It has different attraction at different levels, the one I personally enjoyed the most is the glass floor at the height of 259 meters from the ground, it’s impressive, from there you can “walk on the big metropolis”!

At the base of this great building you can visit the Shanghai History Museum, where you can retrace the history of the city in an incredibly realistic way, it is worth a visit.

Ocean Aquarium

Close to the impressive Pearl Tower there is the largest Ocean Aquarium in all Asia, that includes species from all the 5 continents and the 4 oceans. The Ocean Aquarium in Shanghai is the only one all over the world that, between its eight major exhibition areas, has a specific one regarding China, particularly specialized about the Yangtze Valley. Probably the most impressive attractions of this aquarium are the four under water tunnels, reaching a total length of 168 meters, rated as the longest submarine tunnels in the world.

And, last but not least…if you are in Shanghai a must is definitely the Bund, amazing both during the day and at night, it will impress you with the incredible view of the Pudong district on the other side of the river.

These are only few of the things you can do and enjoy in Shanghai, feel free to contact me for more details.
