Dongyang: The Chinese Hollywood

We all have thought, at least once in our life, that watching Chinese movies and tv series would have helped us increasing our Chinese language skills, so we started exploring this new world. After a beginning not totally easy, because of the language of course, we found our favourite and got addicted to it, falling in love with actresses, actors, and their dramas.

If all that happened to you too or if you just love amazing live shows, prepare your luggage and go to Dongyang, the city where the magic happens, where all the Chinese movies and tv series come to life. 

Dongyang is known around the great country as the “Chinese Hollywood”, famous because it is the place where most of the Chinese shows are recorded and the reproduction at natural sizes of some of the most important Chinese touristic sites, as the Forbidden City or Square Tiananmen.

The city has a lot of attractions, the most famous are the different parks of the studios. The parks are simply fantastic and well done, inside them you will be able to find games and, of course you can see many spectacular shows that will leave you speechless. Apart from the games and the shows, you must be really careful, because waking from around the park, from one spot to another, you could have to go through a “recording in progress” point and, who knows, meet your favourite star! It is recommended to keep your eyes open and to be ready to take pictures at any time, you do not know who you are going to meet!

Dongyang is a small town at only 200 km south of Hangzhou, in Jinhua area. You can reach the city by train. 

The suggested time for visiting is at least2 days, spending one night there, also because there are some shows that are acted at night and the special effects are amazing.

When I’ve been at  the park there were problems to get in because I’m of the foreigner passport, but it was months ago, I don’t know how is the situation now, my suggestion is to call and ask for information before leaving.
