Qiandao Lake

Do you like lakes and nature? Qiandao Lake is the perfect mix of both. The lake is huge, and it is famous as “The Thousand Islands Lake”, the reason, of course, is that there are a lot of island inside it.

Sincerely, I never heard about it before going there, so I didn’t know what to expect, but when I realized how beautiful is that place I got surprised, is amazing, I really suggest to visit it.

It was January but, luckily, it was a sunny day, so we could enjoy the trip under the sun during a not crowded period.

You can reach the city by train, when you arrive you can find an information desk where to ask for a map or how to reach different part of the city. Having no idea about that place we chose a random site on the map and asked how to reach it. All the point of interest are well linked to the train station by bus.
You’ll probably have to take different buses, but you will easily find directions. From the railway station we took a shuttle bus that lasts, more or less, half an hour. That bus bring you to a bus station close to the lake, so you can chose if start walking around the lake or take another bus. Arrived there we took the bus number 15,  we had some directions but, of course, we took off the bus at the wrong bus stop, as always. From there we start walking without really know where we were going.
Walking around the lake is really nice, after a while we found a little hill with a temple on the top and we went there. The view was outstanding, we could see the sunset on the lake from the top of that temple, it was incredible, we tried to take some pictures about it, but it will never be the same.

Going back to the railway station we passed through the historical city, a good place where to have a walk. So, if you go there, you can visit both of them, we didn’t because our trip lasted only one day and we decided to visit only the lake, but I’m sure that also the old town is worth it.

Have a nice trip and try to not get lost, as we did! Even if sometimes, getting lost, you’ll find unique places.
